What this tour is about: This is a home visit for an introduction to Bengali cuisine. Your hostess for the tour is a knowledgeable food blogger reputed for her authentic Bengali recipes.
While the menu is not fixed, we generally begin with a starter, usually bhaja (fries). This is followed by the main meal consisting of vegetables, fish or meat, rice and accompaniments. Bengali cuisine is famous for its desserts, so the meal will end with something deliciously sweet. This is an interactive session, so you can participate in the cooking if you wish. Please let your hostess know whether you prefer to watch and photograph step by step, or do some hands-on cooking. If there is something specific you want to learn, please let us know in advance and we’ll check whether it is feasible. Please also let us know if you have any diet restrictions or allergies.
Before we visit the home, we will also visit a nearby local market, where you can see the different ingredients and spices used in Bengali cuisine.
